Southern Plains Annual Mix (2026)
This mix was developed with Northeast Oklahoma’s ecosystem in mind, and contains native plants found in Oklahoma and the broader Southern plains region. These seeds are easy to grow, and will give you months of color.
- All residents of this seed mix prefer full sun, in well draining soil.
- These flowers thrive in average to poor soil in the wild – no need to fertilize!
- For best results, sow in late fall and let winter do the work. Spring planting also welcome.
Directions: Scatter seeds, rake or scuff lightly into the soil surface, and press down firmly. A thin soil covering helps larger seeds establish. The general rule of thumb: the larger the seed, the more soil goes on top.
Some seeds in your packet like Toadflax and Indian Blanket wouldn’t mind a bit of sand in their soil. Adding some sand would simulate their natural habitat more.
This seed mix has a variety of seed sizes, from pea-sized to almost dust-like. It is recommended you thoroughly shake the contents into a separate container so you can evenly distribute the seed.
Important: Some seeds may emerge in the fall, rest as small seedlings over winter, and bloom in the spring. Don’t pull them!
